Your name: Willow & Donna from The Romance Cover (www.theromancecover.com)
What is your 'real' life job?
Willow - I'm a Practice Manager of a GP Surgery
Donna - I am an accountant but I work from home and am a consultant to a high net worth financial services company.
What song best describes your work ethic?
Willow - I throw myself in to my work and believe that you never get anywhere without hard work, things may not always go as I plan, but I believe whether this is the case or not, there are always lessons to learn so I think Miley Cyrus, The Climb - " There's always gonna be another mountain, I'm always gonna wanna make it move, Always gonna be an uphill battle, Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose, Ain't about how fast I get there, Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side, it's the climb"
Donna - For a song there are not that many written about finances and accountants but one song came to mind and a few lines represents me it is called Perfect by Fairground Attraction it is these two lines "it's got to be perfect" and "too many people take second best, but I won't take anything less" just about sums me up I am a perfectionist or at least try to be when it comes to work. Same applies to my reviews, they take hours because they have to be perfect!
A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?
Willow - He says Pour me one too sweetheart - because clearly I've been drinking! ;-)
Donna - one tequila, two tequila, three tequila (hic!) more, four tequila, five tequila, six tequila (hic!)...floor, penguin looks up...who the f**k are you, where the f**k am I this is not the South Pole!
If you had to be a character in any book who would it be?
Willow - at first I thought Kahlan Amnell from Terry Goodkinds Sword of Truth series, shes strong, independent and really kick ass, her life is never boring, it's always full of adventure and danger, but then I realised Perry Palomino from Karina Halle's experiment In Terror Series is all of those things plus she has Dex *sighs* - so I definitely have to be her!
Donna - I think with the character I would love to be is Hermione Grainger, really clever and doing spells in my own magical world! But from a pure "romance" side would love to be a lot of women (I know call me a slut) I could be Brooke from Real or Rylee from Driven and Fueled or I could be Sierra Sellers the filling in the Luke and Cole sandwich in Nicole Edwards Club Destiny series
Would you rather not have sex for the rest of your life or be blind?
Willow - that is a tough question!!! Not have sex, there is too much beauty around us it would be a crime to choose not to see it.
Donna - Not have sex, there are things that can be used as a substitute (blushes) but you cannot substitute your sight. Sight is a gift and that is one gift I would never want to lose.
If you could only read one book for the next six months what would it be?
Willow - Right now I'll say The Sea of Tranquility. I love the slow build relationship in it.
Donna - Oooooh that is soooooooo hard, I love so many books and all for different reasons! I have two book boyfriends that I absolutely adore, so I would have to do ip dip between Real by Katy Evans and Fueled by Kristy Bromberg, at least my imagination would get a work out for 6 months
Your least favorite name for a woman's vagina in books?
Donna - I hate the word soooo much I cannot even type it, it makes me sick when I read it and totally puts me off the book and that is c u Next Tuesday urgggghhhh
Willow: totally agree with you Donna!
Would you rather be unable to read or bald?
Willow - Bald - there are really nice wigs out there, you could change your hair every day! I don't even want to think about not being able to read!!
Donna- I agree with Willow, I would rather be bald!! I NEED my books they keep me sane and are my means of escape, there are some great wigs out there that could cover up my baldness!!
If you could have drinks with one author who would it be?
Willow - These questions are tough! I think that would have to be Karina Halle, my favourite author right now, she seems like she could be a lotta fun and who wouldn't want to hang out with the creator of Dex Foray and Camden McQueen?
Donna - If there was an autobiography by Pierce Brosnan I would so be there! But alas no and because I am meeting one of my fave authors next year I won't name her as that will soon be a reality so therefore I will choose Tiffany Reisz, I love her Sinners series, I want to know how her brain ticks and she sounds like a scream!!
What is one trend in books right now that you hate?
Willow - I really do love a dominant alpha male, but I do now roll my eyes at sex scenes where as he is thrusting into the chick he growls "mine" at her. I've just read it in too many books now.
Donna - Trend of broken girl, meets hot alpha mr perfect, he fixes broken girl and they live HEA! Don't get me wrong, I love these books, I read them with a passion, but just sometimes I wish it was the man that was a total head case, the girl is ballsy and head strong and she does the fixing!! I have read a few and it really works!! I would love to see more strong women out there, we are the stronger sex after all (winks!)
What is the weirdest sex scene in a book you've ever read?
Donna - Weirdest sex scene.....hmmmm tricky tricky I think in one of the In Flight series by RK Lilley they had sex whilst riding a horse, the gallop doing the thrusting so to speak...would love to know if that is possible...hmmm my imagination ran wild when I read that.
Willow- I actually can't think of one, although I do remember our little book group discussing that scene!
When you don't like a book do you give the author a head's up before your review or do you just review?
It depends, if they've requested we review their book, we will let them know if we don't like it. If its just a book we've picked up, then no.
What's your most embarrassing moment?
Willow - I was in Paris on holiday for my birthday, up the Eiffel Tower in the lift to take us up to the top (I know thats lazy but it was the second time I'd been and I'd learnt the hard way that those steps are a bitch!) the lift was jam packed and as the doors closed my husband starting singing happy birthday - by the time the doors opened at the top nearly everyone in that lift had sung happy birthday to me and were all staring at me!
Donna - Most embarrassing moment, I was walking backwards talking to a friend across the road, when I turned round to walk forwards, I hit a lamp post and broke my nose! Blood everywhere, but at least I got out of the sponsored walk that day!!
If they made a reality tv show about you what would it be about or called?
Willow - hmm it would probably have Geek in the title as I am a total geek, I love Sci-Fi, I've always got some sort of science book on the go and I love computer gaming too.
Donna - I am quite a private person so I would never do a reality tv show. I love watching them though!
How did you get into blogging and/or why did you start your blog?
Willow: Donna and I met on an amazon forum thread I started regarding book recommendations. We started to discuss books we'd read and thought the other would really like. Other people joined the thread too and we really enjoyed sharing our love of books with them, especially highlighting books that other people hadn't heard off. We started getting into writing reviews on Goodreads, but not everyone uses it, so I thought it was a good idea to start a blog, Donna was thinking the same at the time too so the rest is history. If by doing our blog we introduce just one person to a great book, then we consider our blog a success.
In five words or less- Why should people read your blog?
Honest reviews from the heart.
